Hynix is the original modern memory, renamed as Hynix in 2001 and SK Hynix in 2012. Hynix Semiconductor was established in 1983 as modern electronic industry Co., Ltd., and was officially listed in South Korea in 1996. It acquired LG semiconductor in 1999 and changed its name to Hynix Semiconductor in 2001, which was separated from Hyundai Group. In October 2004, the system IC business was sold to Citigroup to become a professional memory manufacturer
