The MediaTek MT7531 is a highly integrated, high-performance 7-port Gigabit Ethernet switch controller. It integrates 384Kbytes of embedded SRAM as packet memory and supports up to 2K MAC aDDRess entries. The MT7531 is equipped with a 10Gbps high-bandwidth switching fabric that provides users with a 7-port wire-speed, non-blocking switching platform.

The MT7531 is aimed at SOHO and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMBs). To meet the increasingly important bandwidth management and multimedia needs in the market, the MT7531 also supports up to 4K IEEE 802.1Q port-based VLANs and 8 priority queues for advanced network management and QoS solutions. With the VLAN feature, users can effectively manage broadcast traffic. The MT7531 provides a multimedia environment for end users by switching between different types of traffic (such as general data, expedited data, voice, and video) according to traffic characteristics and user needs through a priority queuing mechanism. In all ports, flow control is implemented to prevent congestion or overflow of the switch. To avoid broadcast storms caused by anomalous network events, each port can be programmed with a specific bandwidth threshold to suppress excess packets. The dump switch can be configured via EEPROM with simple control parameters.

Fabricated with 28nm low-power CMOS technology, the MT7531 can withstand 3.3V input and the output can be connected directly to low-voltage TTL levels. The chip is available in a 128-pin LQFP package.
