MediaTek MT8516A is a highly integrated connected audio platform that contains application processing and connectivity subsystems designed to enable connected audio applications. The chip integrates a QuadcoRe ARM Cortex-A35 MPCore and runs at up to 1.3GHz. The MT8516 interfaces to NAND Flash, LPDDR 2, LPDDR 3, DDR 3, DDR3L, and DDR 4, and supports booting from eMMC to m. Reduce the overall BOM cost. In addition, an extensive set of interfaces, such as TDM/PDM inputs, are included for connecting microphones on audio products for voice input control/search applications.
The application processor is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 MPCore that includes a neon multimedia processing engine.
The MT8516 includes two wireless connectivity features: WLAN and Bluetooth. These two block scans for these built-in RF parts support 802.11 b/g/n. Integrating two advanced radio technologies into a single chip, the MT8516 provides the industry's best and most convenient connectivity solution. The MT8516 implements advanced and sophisticated radio coexistence algorithms and hardware mechanisms. It also supports Bluetooth and WLAN sharing in a single antenna between 2.4GHz antennas. Enhanced OV achieves all the qualities of voice, data, and audio transmission at the same time. The small footprint and low power consumption greatly reduce PCB layout resources.
The MediaTek MT8516 integrates 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0HS radios and passive devices (IPD) to provide a connected audio solution. The application processor integrates a highly efficient 64-bit quadrangular pyramid A35 processor operating at 1.3 GHz.Rich memory interfaces (PCDDR 3, DDR 4, LPDDR 3, eMMC, Raw NAND) provide a high degree of flexibility to support a wide range of memory configurations. The well-designed MMD (MediaTek Module Design) provides proven schematics and PCB layouts for memory and power supplies to reduce development time. Hybrid chips MT 6630 and 802.11ac/BT also provide alternatives for implementation. High-end Wi-Fi/BT requirements. The MT 8516 processor delivers high-performance computing, low power consumption, and a good multimedia experience.
Based on MediaTek's world-leading SoC architecture and advanced 28 nm RF process, the MT 8516 integrates digital and RF into a single chip suitable for compact PCB designs. The PMIC MT 6392 is the one that provides all the power to the MT 8516 itself. This dual-chip solution brings a lower rBOM and design effort to cost-effective, fast time-to-market for developing applications.
